Today is a birthday of a very special person – Baby Boy’s Krustmāte (Godmother), Liga.
We asked Liga to become a Godmother February 2009, just before they left on a trip to France (was very good planning, as she brought a ton of clothes to spoil Baby Boy :)

Since August 2009, our lives twirled around our decision to make the ‘Big Move’ to another country. After weighing out various options - there are so many options when it comes to choosing another country - it seemed as if we were ‘pushed’ into the direction of Canada. So the ‘Big Move’ that would normally take up to two years, played out within 5 months. Although we are still in South Africa, we plan to leave within the next couple of weeks due to work commitments in Canada. So imagine this… your life packed into 3 bags. One for myself, one for my husband, Sydney and one for our son Nathan who is now 4. Now let’s not forget the important things when packing Nathan’s bag… 50% would have to be dedicated to his books and toys. I mean that is just obvious in his opinion, and probably fair! Ok so that leaves us with two and a half bags to pack our lives into. No shipments. Just our luggage. Insane… just a tad. We prefer to call it an adventure.

It has been almost a week. There’s no need to list all the statistics and news.
There’s hope in what people are doing in Haiti: different races, religions, organizations often competing for funding and publicity - working together. There’s hope in this effort, hope that when the next disaster strikes – there will be the same response. Hope that the same compassion and dedication will be thrown somewhere e
lse, where families are on the verge of desperation for basic things like a piece of food and a drink of water.
There are many thoughts that crowd my head in these days about grief that people might be living through. I choke and pause the day for few seconds. Rethinking my humanity, my position and views in life, my black and white approach.

So, some of you may or may not know that we are traveling again. Sean-Duncan is 14 months old, and last year we decided it's time to get going again…
In the past it was just Luba and I and our camera equipment, but now there is a whole new dimension to the whole traveling experience… expected but still overwhelming!

A new analysis from Harvard University, using H1N1 deaths in the U.S. in the spring and projecting likely outcomes for this fall, suggests that the swine flu “pandemic” has been oversold.
The new paper suggests swine flu was unlikely to create a severe epidemic. In light of this, officials have taken many steps that may have been unnecessary, including mass vaccinations.
It is not clear how H1N1 will act in the coming months, but swine flu cases seem to have already hit their peak.
