Nasty day outside. Rain and wind, cold to such degree that we did not dare to even go out for bread. Just as a reminder to myself that even in darkest, wettest days there are things to enjoy and be thankful for I declared + GREEN DAY SUNDAY + Dedicated to: Ouma Z, who loves life & hope cousin Clayton, who once refused to go out unless he wore green and Great Grandma Luba, whose fingers are green when it comes to plants, people and animals. Starring: Baby Boy SD. Styling & Wardrobe: I provided links to where we get our stuff. If its featured on this site - we endorse it. It works for us. If you shop through the links provided - you show support to this site and we thank you for it!
BROCCOLI: Baby Boy thinks this is most wonderful food after carrots. Well, we did not test him to see what he prefers more. Why spoil the good thing. As I was cooking broccoli for him (bring to boil in enough water to cover the florets to disenfect, throw water out and leave just enough for simmering, take off the heat while florets are still green & firm), he asked for the stem. Raw. And promptly chewed on it. And played with it. And pulled a collander out of the drawer and walked with it all over the flat with first stop by Daddy: "look what I have!" Obviously the collander ahd to be explored and things got placed in and out of it.
CROSS: This is a present by cousin Clayton. Can you believe that a 5 year old coudl make this? Its absolutely precious. SD also thought so and the moment he got his hands on it, quickly went to show to Daddy. He loved carrying the cross by the string.
![]() NATURAL CLOTHES: Natural fibers items layered on top of each other - what can be better for exploring and mischief? (the little pose he has taken by the TV is a no-no: he is fishing for DVDs) I absoltely love cotton zip jackets from Nartjie! It has served us well for 9 months, a staple item for the baby bag. The Rastafari vest as Daddy calls it is hand made by Baby Boy's Great Grandmother Luba. I woudl have never put these colours together, which makes this wool creation even more precious.
![]() BOOKS: "Kolobok" is a gift from Grandfather Vadim, its in Russian and has beautiful illustrations in Slavc tradition. All the foxes, wolves, goats in the book are called "dogs" and are barked at by Baby Boy. Armadillo is form a picture animal book we got as a present from our friends at 5 months. What does Armadillo sound like? The Bible is a gift from Ouma Z and Oupa H and is absolutely loved. As I am typng this, Baby Boy brought it to Daddy to page through.
![]() NORMAN THE FROG: s a 1st birthday gift from Norma. An absolute travel toy! Can fold up into a small space and is highly entertaining. Can be chewed on, cuddled with, fed rice cookies and thrown on the floor... Norman likes hiding on the coffee table's shelf. And travel around in a paper bag.
![]() CARS: Boikido wooden car with a squeeky toy. Lovely, except all Boikido toys loose paint very quickly. Plastic building blocks that are temporarily forgotten, but were a big hit justa month ago. Wooden car track with various colours cars: an absolute delight! We got it in Germany and it is marked for age 3+, which is understandable as the cars are quite small and we do not let Baby Boy to play with it alone. It took him a day to figure out how to position the car correctly for it to drive all the way down and since then he is the master of the track. Even tried to send his larger cars on it as well.
![]() FOOD: Goat's milk box is a reminder of green days to come. What can be better then a cup of apple tea? Mag Mug with goat's milk. Extra virgin olive oil, organic, for Baby Boys' porridge.
![]() TOYS: Stick from a hammering game - one of the few toys that have travelled with us. SD just loved to crawl around and place the sticks in the drawers. Dragon? - comes with a Chuppa Chups, minus the lollipop. Makes funny noises when the mouth is opened. New trend: to walk around with the toy under the jacket. Sorting blocks from a wooden shape sorter. Stacking cup bought in Gemany - an excellent entertainment just a month ago. Teddy bear - birth gift from Norma. Baby Boy has never showed any interest in soft toys until Christmas thi syear, when he was just 14 months old. ![]() MISC: Daddy's pedometer - a present from Oupa H. A new toy as we walk so much. Moulds for ice - will use it in summer for various colour icies. Omega 3:6:9 oil, organic. A pine tree outside our window. ![]() Other information sources you might find useful
