8 weeks to be precise, accompanied by a small bump somewhere where there used to be nothing. Some laziness, I mean tiredness (excuse the pregnancy brain… sometimes I mix up words) and some ‘bouts’ of Morning Sickness which I can now narrow down to the following times; somewhere between 2 – 3am, somewhere between 6 – 8am and then a heavy dose somewhere between 4 – 6pm. Has anyone ever honoured the creator of Vomifene Nausea tablets? It does seem to help those bouts disappear either completely or at least relieve it some what.So in the last piece I referred to Eating. Quote: “Eating during pregnancy… yes that generally does help.” True, depending on what you can eat and how much you can stomach in one session. Having been on an apple detox before getting pregnant, apparently allowed my stomach to shrink a bit. Well that was what it felt like when I started with the pregnancy diet. I was so hungry (still is) all the time, but it felt as if though my body couldn’t create enough space to accommodate all the food. Not to mention food that it was no longer familiar with. There must be some transition method archived somewhere. So I would love to know what your pregnancy diets are because I know I will receive some heavy criticism for my diet. But my theory is this, the baby waits for no man (yes ‘The Man’ who cannot find his keys / wallet / or the car door for that matter when you want food NOW) and also baby’s gentle carrier can only stomach certain foods at the moment. So in particular order, my daily diet would look like this somewhere between or around the specified times:6 – 7am: Rice Crispies with lots of Milk. 9 – 10am: Brown Bread / Seed Loaf with Egg 1 – 2pm: Rice Crispies with lots of Milk 5 – 6pm: Pro-Vita with butter / Tuna & Mayonnaise 7 – 8pm: Supper which has included mostly: Pasta / Fish & Pasta / Fish & Potato and on occasion Pizza, mainly for the white dough. I will admit to the MacDonalds we had last night but again it was mainly for the Honey & Mustard sauce. 10 – 11pm: If I am still awake, you guessed it… Rice Crispies with lots of milk. Somewhere throughout the day I try to fit an apple / banana or some grapes into the equation. Ok, so looking at the above, it doesn’t look too bad. Rice Crispies kinda just keeps me going. I know a lot of people recommend Salti Cracks, but I had one too many of those with my previous pregnancy. Besides, ‘with lots of milk’ is a good thing. Right?! I am definitely leaning towards foods of a white / light colour. Red meat is a thing of the past, for the moment, and might I add that the precious scent drifting on the wind all they way from the restaurants across the main road, is NOT doing me any favours! It never has. Previously I would long for a plate of food from those restaurants the minute the scent arrived, and now I don’t want the scent to arrive at all! As for beverages, well the Brandy / Vodka and Cola is obviously no longer an option. Something I will gladly give up in exchange for this precious gift. And contrary to the very popular believe of many, a glass of wine here and there is seriously also not an option. It’s only 9 months ladies… come on, but again, this is my personal opinion towards the topic. Ok… in all fairness I should probably add that I really don’t like wine at all which makes it easier I suppose. I am a heavy tea-drinker, normally between 10 – 15 cups (mugs) per day but that I have also stopped. I switched back to ‘Rooibos’ Tea and since the precious find of the little one, have had in total about 10 cups of tea. A hot favourite amongst beverages at the moment would be Granadilla juice, diluted slightly with water and lots of ice. Bearing in mind that we only have a borrowed bar fridge in our house due to our relocation to Canada (which will hopefully happen soon), obtaining ice or at least keeping it true to it’s icy form is a bit difficult as the bar fridge doesn’t have a freezer compartment. Therefore I would like to take this opportunity to thank my neighbours who came bearing gifts of Ice Lollies and cooler boxes full of ice. And that would be my only serious craving so far… ICE!
